This week, I have a meditation to share with you, some gift ideas for the yogi in your life (which may be you) and my holiday teaching schedule.
The winter solstice – the shortest day of the year - occurs this Wednesday, Dec. 21. In the spirit of celebrating the gifts of the season, here’s a 20-minute meditation I recorded in honor of the solstice. All you need is a quiet, comfortable spot where you can lie down and listen.
If you are still looking for gifts for fellow yogis, or for yourself, consider yoga props or a private class with me. None of these yoga props are necessary, and there are substitutes, but I find these to be helpful for supporting the body during practice.
For yoga blocks, I recommend foam yoga blocks.
For a yoga strap, I recommend one that is longer than 6 feet.
For a yoga blanket, I like Falsa yoga blankets.
For a yoga mat, I like mats by Manduka. They are a bit pricey, but I’ve been using a Manduka Pro mat for almost a decade and it is holding up great.
Gift a private yoga class with me to a friend or family member. Or if you’d like to buy a series of classes, for a limited time (from now until Dec. 31), you’ll get a discount of 25%. Enter the coupon code HOLIDAY at checkout to save 25% on a package of 3 or 5 private classes. My private classes can be in-person (if you live in the DC area) or online, whichever you prefer. The classes can be redeemed in 2023, even if you buy them in 2022.
Also I'm taking a holiday break and will not be teaching from noon on Dec. 21 through Jan. 2. My next public classes will be on Jan. 3.
Happy holidays and thank you for being part of my yoga community this year and wishing you strengthen and balance as we begin 2023!
